# Roster [[Ariah Eran|Ariah]] [[Rhytsar Kharn|Rhytsar]] [[Ewyn Stafwind]] [[Chance]] [[Rodge Stagswift|Rodge]] ## Absent [[Lav Lazno|Lav]] [[Garvok]] [[Khass]] - Has gone on a journey of self discovery to seek wisdom from his god. # Heading North to the Sea of Moving Ice ## Waterdeep The session begun in Waterdeep with the party getting the opportunity to rest and recoup their energy and supplies. - All party members levelled up to Level 6 - All party members were able to choose 1x Uncommon magical item from the Harper supplies (excluding Wondrous items) The party were tasked with heading north into the [[Sea of Moving Ice]]. [[Maccath the Crimson]], a member of the Arcane Brotherhood is missing. She has originally been sent north in search of the [[Draakhorn]]. A legendary horn that is believed to be capable of calling and even summoning Dragons across the Sword Coast. An item; that in the wrong hands; could be a significant threat to the Realms. > [!tip]+ Flavor > [[Maccath the Crimson]] was one of those best and brightest when she journeyed to the Hosttower seeking admission. Her knowledge of dragon lore and draconic relics was already vast, but she wanted to know more about the dragons' magic. Even though she gained access to the accumulated lore of the Arcane Brotherhood, Maccath concluded that some questions could be answered only by dragons—and that questions about the magic stolen from the Hosttower during the last Rage of Dragons could be answered only by Arauthator. Maccath set sail on an expedition to learn those answers three years ago and hasn't been heard from since. The characters were tasked with heading north to try and find Maccath; most likely towards the lair of Arauthator. ## Neverwinter ![[NPC - Lerustah Half-face.png|right|300]] The party were guided through a portal transport system and found themselves quickly in Neverwinter being guided directly towards a waiting boat. They were introduced to the captain Lerustah Half-face and his crew (40x). They stowed their gear and the ship quickly set sail headed north. > [!tip]+ Flavor > [[Chance]] took the opportunity to steal a quill from their guide (a small administrative gnome). He swapped the quill out with a Cult of the Dragon poster! ## The Journey North The boat trip north was relatively uneventful for the first few days. But that never lasts... ### Merrow Attack Fins were spied off the port side and violence erupted quickly. Harpoon's went soaring through the air aiming for the crew members. Of course they missed... But they were just distractions with more Merrow jumping out of the water, launching nets and harpoons attempting to drag their victims into the ocean! There was a splash and scream as [[Chance]] fell victim to a well placed harpoon. He was dragged quickly overboard with [[Rodge Stagswift]] hearing the splash and running to the rescue (on a horse...). With quick thinking he picked up a harpoon form the boats stores and threw it at the attacker. He missed but managed to snag the rope. Thankfully he doesn't like the water and have thoughtfully tied himself to the mast (while be made sand-castles). This meant he was able to maintain a hold on [[Chance]] which gave him time to cut the rope and pull himself to safety. While this was happening there was plenty of violence occurring elsewhere. [[Ewyn Stafwind|Ewyn]] had decided he wanted to try fish and was throwing around enough fire to start a bonfire. Thankfully he knows how to aim and the only thing that was cooked was the [[merrow]] (although some party members were very thankful to learn that [[Ewyn Stafwind|Ewyn]] knows how to sculpt his spells). The fight was over as quickly as it begun with the Merrow falling to the efforts of the party. [[Chance]] had to remove his warm clothing to allow them to dry and [[Rodge Stagswift]] proceeded to cover him in furs. The journey continued leaving the Merrow as fish bait. ### Aquatic Trolls! It was night when the next attack occurred. [[Rodge Stagswift]] was on lookout but that didn't help and it wasn't until the crew members started screaming that the party were alerted to the presence of three large smelly [[Aquatic Troll|Aquatic Trolls]] onboard. They had already helped themselves to a few screw members and were busy chewing on some yummy human legs. Thankfully the party had heard tales of Trolls in their travels. They burst forward throwing as much fire and acid at the trolls as possible in an attempt to stop them from regenerating. [[Rodge Stagswift]] had a breakthrough during this fight, learning that he could use his crossbow to send trolls flying. He launched a bolt directly into the stomach of on troll, sending if flying straight overboard. The sound of the splash was quickly replaced by some hard knocks as the captain turned the boat directly into the path of the overboard troll, running it over with the boat. The fight was short and swift with the party ensuring they rolled all of the smelly troll bodies into the ocean. Not before they searched the pockets and found a **shiny stone** though! [[Rodge Stagswift]] did have a great idea about cooking them up but the party educated him on how fucking stupid that would be. ## Oyaviggaton Sighted The journey north was interrupted when the party spied a smoke plume coming from a large iceberg. The portion of the berg above the water appeared roughly triangular, with rounded corners. The plateau portion of the iceberg rose more than a hundred feet above the water, and the jagged ice peaks added another two hundred feet above that. Visible on a section of ice that touched the water was boats and various fishing supplied. Tribal villagers moved around tending to their daily responsibilities. It wasn't long before they noticed the boat full of visitors and they started to gather to watch and see what the intentions of the party were. The captain asked for guidance from the party and it was decided that they would land the boat and attempt to communicate with the tribe, offering trade as a way to get closer and see if they could help them in their journey. The party quickly discovered that the tribe did not speak Common or any language they knew. It took some doing, but they managed to communicate through visual signals and sounds. The party tried to communicate through drawing and drew a picture of a Dragon and tried to ask the villagers if they knew where they could find a dragon. There was much giggling from the villagers. The villagers showed interest in the trade goods and indicated the party should follow them higher up the iceberg. It was agreed that the captain and his crew would remain on the boat and prepare it to disembark. The party followed the tribes people up the ice through a large crevice. On the way they saw some of the largest bones they had ever seen in their life. Interestingly the bones were scratched and had visible bite marks. This made the party a little bit nervous. The party followed the tribal guide up to large area that appeared to be dug into the top of the iceberg. The area was surrounded by ice walls. It allowed the tribes people to live in relative cover from the treacherous winds. The entire tribe came out to meet the party. They was easily 80-100 of them living here in tents and ice huts. The party were met by what appeared to be the chieftain and joined shortly by what appeared to be a shaman. The party attempted to communicate, again by using the drawing of the Dragon. They showed this to the chieftain and shaman. They reacted by showing the rest of the tribe who erupted with energy, almost happy, laughing. The party could not determine the overall vibe of the tribe. It felt almost like they were reacting to an old childrens tale. The party pushed the shaman to tell them where the Dragon was and she took the offered chalk and draw a circle around the picture of the dragon over and over again. She proceeded to dance around the party pretending to be a fierce dragon. The tribe were enjoying the commotion. The party proceeded to offer items of trade, including some alcohol. The tribe were very interested in the alcohol and proceeded to barter with some intricately carved bone creations (approx 200gp each to the right collector). [[Chance]] took this opportunity to collect as many as he could. Around this time a group of about 15 warriors from the tribe gathered their weapons and left towards the beach. [[Rhytsar Kharn]] followed them, curious to see what they were up to. On his way he was able to see a much larger pile of very large wale bones with very obvious signs of scratches and bites made by something very large. To try and impress the tribe, [[Ariah Eran|Ariah]] and [[Ewyn Stafwind|Ewyn]] used some basic magic tricks. This impressed the Shaman who beckoned them to follow her to what they assumed to be her tent. It was surrounded by a bone fence. They agreed leaving [[Rodge Stagswift]] to drink with the chieftain. [[Chance]] was around somewhere... looking after his loot. ### The Shamans Tent Inside the tent the Shaman was quick to take up the Dragon flight again. Flying around and around in a circle, but coming to a very clear stop and pointing directly to the ground underneath them. She showed [[Ariah Eran|Ariah]] and [[Ewyn Stafwind|Ewyn]] a secret entrance under the animal skins that made up the tent floor. A secret entrance leading into an ice cave below! They decided to return to the fire and gather the rest of the party. As they arrived [[Rodge Stagswift]] was being offered a large beverage from a carved bone. The shaman snuck behind Ariah and Ewyn pulling on their arms, an obvious warning. They were able to relay this information to Rodge and Ariah offered to accept the drink instead of Rodge. She sneakily cast [[Purify Food and Drink]] on the item before sculling it. There was a roar of approval from the tribes people who went to get more drink. The party knew this was about to become problematic. How could they get themselves out of this drinking contest that was obviously designed to poison them. Suddenly there was a roar loud enough to belong to a Dragon. A large chunk of the tribes people dropped to their knees and looked to the floor! This was enough to convince the party that something was very not right. Through this process, the drinks that had been summoned were dropped and the party proceed to play tired. The shaman offered to shelter them in her tent for the night and the party retired to her tent. The session ended here...
